Letter Representation & Magazine is an unorganized-collective based in
Mystic, Connecticut for the representation of the newest generation of
photographers on the east coast. As our beloved art form becomes more and
more passive and murky at the hands of a technologically enveloped world,
the focused eyes are gathered to remind us of our unique hearts, beliefs,
and excitements toward post-pictorialism.

Meaning

Letter means to keep in touch, it is every piece of every sentence. One
picture is worth something like twenty-six-thousand of them. The making
of this group comes from a place of need. The need for photographers to
have a sanctuary where there is value in speaking on their work— work
that speaks on everything that matters only to them. If you are them, no
matter the order —writer or photographer— consider making a submission to
join.

Objective

Letter’s inner system is designed for the making of work, rising of
voices, and neccessity for artistic collection. Each of the 26
photographers will each be contributing to one story within the magazine
per issue. The first issue of the magazine will be a one year project.
Each photographer has a job within the magazine, whether thats graphic
designers, editors, coders, book binders, printers... hell, even
photographing the photographers. You will be the teacher and the student
in making a magazine.

There will be remote bi-weekly critiques, these will be three fold for
showing in-progress personal work for contruction / criticism, to speak
on art of your peers, but maybe most importatntly to be inspired to make
more, and to make better.

If you submit you are expected to prize any oportunity to speak up; To
keep up with the responsibilities of being a part of the collective.
Showing up for your peers is insisted upon for the uplifting of
eachother. Lazy bones sink ships too, so may this be an opportunity to
push yourself or harness your making.
